The edge of merlo san luis argentina

The Sierra de Los Comechingones and the Villa de Merlo have an imposing natural scenery, the different attractions such as the streams of Piedra Blanca, Pasos Malos and El Rincón, as well as the different trails and the «road to the edge or summit» of the sierra, are close to the city.
In terms of adventure, the sierra offers places such as the Salto del Tigre waterfall (the highest in the area) in the middle of the sierra with an extensive natural environment and the amazing Pueblo Escondido at the foot of Cerro Aspero.
We offer outings, organized activities and half day or full day excursions, with transfers and permanent guide, for hiking and horseback riding, trekking / hiking, ascents to the mountains and viewpoints in the Filo.

2- Excursion Sunset on the ridge. Spectacular tour from Merlo to contemplate the sunset and the sunset from the top of the sierras. First we reach the Mirador del Sol, which is halfway (about 1470 meters above sea level), and then we reach the summit at an altitude of 2180 meters, from where you can see on the other side, the entire Calamuchita Valley of Cordoba. There the pavement ends, we continue by gravel road to the south, up to the Mirador de los Cóndores confectionery, where the paraglider’s take-off platform is located and where you can do zip-lining, rappel, hanging bridges, etc. at sunset, and enjoy the magic of the lights of all the little towns of the valley that are gradually turning on. We have a wonderful daytime view going up to the Filo, and a magical night view going back down to Merlo.

The comechingones

Los Molles and the homonymous stream that crosses it take their name from one of the most characteristic arboreal species of the region, and together they captivate visitors showing off beauties perfected with comforts. Among them, the El Talar spa, fed by the stream and equipped with everything necessary for the full satisfaction of the camper.
Cortaderas is located on the western slope of the Sierras de los Comechingones, in front of the imposing Quebrada de Villa Elena with its forest of molles and its transparent streams, while natural spas and waterfalls are added in its surroundings. Villa Elena, on the other hand, lies framed by a rocky and abrupt mountain profile, and immersed in the deepest tranquility.
It is an ideal place for summer vacations. It has in its territory the tourist complex Chorro de San Ignacio, an impressive waterfall of more than 20 meters high, among rocks and lush vegetation that admires the gaze of each and every one of the tourists.
Very close to the town center of Papagayos, the ravine of the homonymous creek is discovered, whose slopes are intensely populated with molles, ferns and jaguars, in permanent contrast with the pink granite rocks. An ideal place for camping, enjoying outdoor activities and recreation with the family, this corner of San Luis has stood up and encouraged tourism with all its beauties.

An abandoned village in the middle of the sierras

A classic of Merlo is the ascent to Filo de la Sierra, along Provincial Route 5 and an asphalted road that runs 17 kilometers from Merlo to the summit of the Sierra de los Comechingones, natural dividing line with the province of Córdoba.
The circuit passes through the Mirador del Sol, at an altitude of 1,470 meters, with fantastic views of the Conlara Valley and, if the sky is clear, El Morro Hill and the Sierras de San Luis, more than 100 kilometers away.
The Artisans Circuit leads the tourist to the creative intimacy that reigns in the artisan workshops, where products made of wood, clay, bronze and textiles with alpaca wool, among others, are produced.
Bird watching: some 200 species make up a colony of Merlo’s avifauna, including black and white-rumped woodpeckers, black-chested eagles, red-rumped thrushes, condors and peregrine falcons.
Photographic safaris: among the varied native fauna of the region are red foxes, wild cats, ferrets, pumas, maras and huinas that encourage photographic safaris.
